Terms of Service (EULA)

1. Overview

Checkr is a legal document analysis application that helps users understand contracts, leases, terms of service, and other legal documents. The app uses AI to analyze documents, provide risk assessments, and answer follow-up questions about document content.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Checkr. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

3. Accounts

3.1 Registered Accounts

  • Creating an account requires a valid email address and password.
  • An account is required to use document analysis, purchase subscriptions, restore purchases, or buy additional scans.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

3.2 Account Deletion

  • You may delete your account at any time through the Settings menu in the app.
  • Before deleting your account, you should export or save any analysis results or information you wish to keep.
  • When you delete your account, we will remove or de-identify your account data from our active systems, subject to any limited records we may retain where required for billing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or purchase restoration.
  • If you have an active subscription, you must cancel it separately through your App Store account settings to stop future billing.

4. Free Tier and Usage Limits

  • Free scan limits and feature availability are displayed in the app and may vary by account type, plan, promotional offer, or product updates.
  • Usage limits reset on the schedule shown in the app.
  • One-off scan packs may be purchased by account holders.

5. Premium Subscription

5.1 Subscription Service

Checkr offers optional premium access ("Checkr Pro") that provides access to unlimited scans and premium features while your plan is active.

5.2 Subscription Plans and Pricing

We offer the following auto-renewable subscription options:

  • Monthly Subscription: Renews every month at the current monthly subscription price
  • Annual Subscription: Renews every year at the current annual subscription price

We may also offer a one-time lifetime purchase for Checkr Pro and consumable scan packs. Lifetime purchases do not auto-renew. Consumable scan packs are depleted as scans are used.

Prices are displayed in the app before purchase and are charged to your Apple ID account.

5.3 Subscription Features

Premium subscription includes:

  • Unlimited document scans
  • Full analysis history
  • All premium features for the duration of your active subscription

Premium features may change from time to time as we improve, replace, or retire parts of the service. Any material change will be reflected in the app or on our website.

5.4 Payment and Billing

  • Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
  • You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your App Store Account Settings after purchase
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription

5.5 Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID Account Settings
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • You will continue to have access to premium features until the end of the current billing period
  • Refunds, if any, are governed by applicable law and Apple's billing policies

5.6 Changes to Subscription

We may change subscription pricing from time to time. Any price change will not affect your current billing period and will only apply from a future billing period after prior notice is provided through Apple, the app, or other reasonable means. If you do not agree to the new price, you may cancel before the new price takes effect.

6. Document Analysis Disclaimer

  • Checkr uses artificial intelligence to analyze documents and provide insights.
  • Analysis results are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal advice.
  • The accuracy of analysis depends on document quality and complexity.
  • We do not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of any analysis.
  • Some features, such as PDF parsing or photo-based OCR, depend on the quality and readability of the source material.
  • Always consult with a qualified attorney for legal decisions.
  • You are responsible for reviewing any important document yourself before acting on it.

7. User Conduct

By using Checkr, you agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful or harmful purposes.
  • Upload documents containing illegal content.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit the App.
  • Interfere with the App's functionality or security.
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.

8. Intellectual Property

We retain all intellectual property rights in Checkr, including the app, website, software, branding, algorithms, workflows, and other materials we make available through the service.

You retain any rights you have in the documents and content you submit, subject only to the limited rights needed for us and our service providers to operate the service, process your requests, secure the platform, and provide support.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may also terminate your account at any time by using the "Delete Account" option in the app's Settings menu.

Upon termination:

  • Your account data may be removed or de-identified from our active systems in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  • Any active subscription will need to be cancelled separately through your App Store account settings
  • If we terminate your account for a serious breach of these Terms, access to the service may end immediately

10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Checkr is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties except those that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any non-excludable rights or remedies you may have under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or purely economic loss arising from your use of the App or reliance on any analysis provided.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to the App will be limited to the greater of:

  • the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or
  • AUD $100 if you have not paid for the service in that period.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
