1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate and improve the Checkr app.

Account Information:

Email address and authentication credentials (securely stored via Supabase authentication services).

Subscription Information:

If you purchase a premium subscription, we collect and process subscription status, purchase receipts, and entitlement information through Apple's in-app purchase system. We do not store your payment card information. An account is required for subscriptions and additional scan purchases.

Document Analysis:

Checkr lets you analyze documents by pasting text, uploading a PDF, or taking a photo for OCR-based text extraction.

When you analyze a document, the document text is sent to our secure servers for AI processing. Full document text is processed transiently for analysis and follow-up questions, but is designed to remain stored locally on your device rather than in our persistent cloud database.

For registered users, we may store limited account-linked document data in our encrypted database to support product features, including:

  • A short text preview
  • Analysis results such as risk scores, risk flags, summaries, and detected document type
  • Saved follow-up chat history

For follow-up questions, the locally stored document text on your device is sent to our servers when needed to generate an answer and is not intended to be retained after processing.

App Usage Information:

Interactions within the app (such as documents analyzed, questions asked, and feature usage).

Device information such as operating system, device type, and app version for performance monitoring.

Optional User Content:

Display name.

Preferences related to notifications or themes.

Feedback or support messages.

We do not collect sensitive personal information, health data, financial data, or precise location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Operate and maintain the Checkr app.
  • Process and analyze documents you submit.
  • Process and manage your subscription and premium features.
  • Provide follow-up question and answer functionality.
  • Improve app features, performance, and reliability.
  • Communicate with you regarding updates, support, or service announcements.
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or technical issues.

Your data is never used for purposes unrelated to the service without your consent.

3. Document Privacy

When you submit a document for analysis:

  • The document text is transmitted securely to our AI service using TLS encryption.
  • Analysis is performed in real-time using AI processing services.
  • Full document text is intended to remain stored locally on your device rather than in our persistent cloud database.
  • For registered users, we may store limited cloud data such as short previews, analysis results and metadata (including risk scores, document type, summaries, and flags), and chat history to enable document history and account sync features. This data is protected by strict row-level security so only you can access your records.
  • If you use photo scan features, the image may be processed to extract text before analysis.
  • When you ask follow-up questions, relevant document text is sent from your device to our servers for processing and is not intended to be retained after processing.
  • You can delete documents or request account deletion through the app. We will remove or de-identify relevant account data from our active systems, subject to limited retention where required for billing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or purchase restoration.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is securely stored using encrypted cloud infrastructure located in Australia or in regions with equivalent data-protection standards.

We apply industry-standard security measures, including:

  • Secure data transmission (TLS/SSL).
  • Encrypted storage.
  • Strict access controls and authentication safeguards.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously improve our systems to maintain the highest standards of protection.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share limited information with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate Checkr, including:

  • Cloud hosting providers.
  • AI processing services (for document analysis).
  • OCR or vision-processing services used to extract text from document images.
  • Analytics services (to improve app performance).
  • Authentication providers (for secure login and account management).
  • Subscription management services (Apple) to process and manage subscriptions.

All partners are required to meet strict data-protection standards and may only use your information for authorized purposes.

6. Third-Party Services

Checkr uses third-party services for authentication, subscription management, and AI processing. These services operate under their own privacy policies and are selected based on strong data-protection practices.

Subscription Services:

  • Apple In-App Purchases (managed by Apple Inc.)

Authentication Services:

  • Supabase (secure authentication and user management)

AI Services:

  • Document analysis and, where applicable, OCR/image text extraction are performed using secure AI services with strict data handling policies.

7. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time directly within the app through Settings > Delete Account.

Before deleting your account, you should export or save any information you want to keep.

When you delete your account:

  • We will remove or de-identify your account data from our active systems
  • We may retain limited records where required for billing, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or purchase restoration
  • Any cloud-stored documents, chat history, and usage data linked to your account will no longer be available to you through the service
  • Deleting your Checkr account does not itself cancel Apple-managed billing

Important: Subscription billing is managed through your Apple ID. To stop future subscription charges, you must also cancel your subscription through your App Store account settings before deleting your Checkr account.

8. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Australia.

9. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any significant changes will be communicated through the app or other appropriate channels before taking effect.
